SUMMARY:Dementia Friendly Fort Worth Events
DESCRIPTION:Dementia Friendly Fort Worth collaborates with our community to CARE through Connection\, Activities\, Resources and Education. We envision a community that honors\, values\, supports\, and includes people with dementia. Your support is vital to our work in creating a dementia friendly community through widespread awareness\, education\, and program offerings.\ndffw.org\n\nDementia Friendly Fort Worth Programs\n\n5th Street Café Social Club\nCare Partner Support Group\nCrisis Intervention/First Responder Training\nDaily Virtual Activities Program\nDementia Awareness and Empathy Training\nDementia Friendly Business Certification\nFaith Community Education and Programs\n\nPROGRAMS & EVENTS\n\n\n“When I attend the DFFW support group I hear others tell their stories and open up about their challenges and I’m able to reaffirm my commitment. I’ve learned new strategies for unforeseen challenges and hopefully\, have helped others to do the same. It’s not all about the negatives. We’ve learned to find joy in small gifts and we teach each other to hold onto those joys as we all move toward the inevitable.” — Antoinette

SUMMARY:Adult Sunday School
DESCRIPTION:Every Sunday morning\, groups of adults meet in FUMCFW Sunday School Classes to enhance their spiritual growth and enjoy fellowship with other Christians. We have classes for a variety of demographic groups\, with many different class personalities and styles. \nIf you are interested in participating in any of these classes\, please contact: \nRev. Dr. Jenn Pick \n\nAll Ages\n\nSunday Book Chat | 9:30 am  | Room 332 \nAre a “book lover” and would enjoy conversations with others about what you are reading? Participants will need to purchase (or borrow) the chosen book and come prepared to discuss the chapter or sections for that day. Most books will be covered in three-to-five-week discussions\, so feel free to make a short term commitment (one book) or stay for all! \nWesley Bible Study | 9:30 am | Room 340-341\nThis class is a weekly in-depth Bible study for life-long learners. Most Sundays the discussion is led by a candidate for ordained ministry and a brilliant Bible scholar Evve Kuykendall. Our calendar always includes casual lunch get-togethers. \nYoung and Middle Adults\n\nOpen Door | 9:30 am | Room 320\nCouples or singles\, all are welcome to join with other parents for a time of socializing and discussion of topics that are important to us at this life stage of building faith-centered families and raising small children. We usually have several opportunities for service projects (some with our children joining in) and socials. \nAldersgate | 9:30 am | Room 333\nWe are parents of older children and love a good discussion! We engage in monthly service opportunities\, including Second Sunday at the First Street Methodist Mission and several social gatherings throughout the year. \nGenesis | 9:30 am | Room 351\nOur class is primarily made up of late 30’s\, early 40’s couples and singles\, most with elementary-aged children or youth. Topics range from biblical studies to issues related to families to social concerns. We have some fun gatherings planned through the year. \nMiddle and Older Adults\n\nGood Neighbors/Koinonia | 9:30 am | Room 231\nThe name Good Neighbors says a lot about who we are: caring for each other\, serving others. We would describe ourselves as “an active and lively group who loves to learn\, think\, and express many different opinions”. The most unique thing about this class is its “Big Personality”! Our conversations range from social issues\, community concerns\, current events\, and biblical studies. We enjoy social events and hands-on service opportunities. \nRooted | 11:00 am | Room 333\nAdult class ranging in ages from 55 and up. Couples and singles are welcome. The class goal is to become rooted in the Bible\, through bible study by book\, topic\, and theme. The class encourages lively discussion and differences of opinion. There is a monthly dinner out and several socials during the year. \nInquirers | 9:30 am | Room 352\nOur weekly conversations range in topics from biblical studies to social concerns. We invite presenters from the leadership of our church and wider community. We put a lot of emphasis on supporting church outreach programs. Our calendar includes social occasions\, monthly dinners and monthly Ladies Coffee. \nLoyalty | 9:30 am | Room 334\nThis class includes new friends and some of the longest-participating members of our church. We invite engaging speakers from both church members and community speakers. We support a number of service agencies\, and enjoy gatherings for food and fellowship. \nFirst Talks | 9:30 am | Room 310 & Zoom\nFirst Talks is a discussion group formed around weekly TedTalk presentations. A range of opinions and experience make for a great discussion of timely issues.
