Please join us for United Methodist Women (UMW) Sunday on Sunday, September 29 and learn how to join us on our Joyous Journey.
United Methodist Women is one of the largest faith-based organizations for women in the world. Our mission and focus locally and international is the wellbeing and wholeness through faith for women, youth, and children. Our local pastor, Rev. Phyllis Barren, represents us annually at conferences held at UMW national headquarters in Washington DC.
Locally, our missions include supporting First Street Methodist Mission, Methodist Justice Ministry, the United Community Centers “I Can Read” Programs, Methodist Children’s Home, FUMCFW Children’s Ministry, and several other organizations as needed in our church and community.
Our theme this year is A Joyous Journey and it reflects our members’ commitments to spread and seek the joyous love of Christ. A message we hope to share with our church congregation at our monthly meetings. The programs each month will reflect a different aspect of spreading JOY through faith as part of our charge to be God’s People in the World.
Please consider joining us on the first Tuesday of the month at 11:30 am in Wesley Hall for our luncheons and listen to speakers that share pathways that express our mission. Program topics will follow our Joyous Journey theme and hopefully add ways everyone can experience joy in their faith and everyday lives.
We also have smaller UMW groups that meet at different times monthly. These are known as circles. No matter your personality, age, or schedule, we have a place for all women. If you haven’t already found the right Circle for you, we would be happy to welcome you to one! You can find more information about these groups in the Welcome Center.
The flame and cross is our emblem and Faith, Hope, and Love in Action is our motto. By focusing on women and children’s issues, our purpose is rewarding, uplifting, and altogether a joyous journey through faith.
