When you look at who Jesus criticized most, it was not those who were sinners or tax collectors — the ones most despised in Jesus’ day and place.
In Paul’s time, people who traveled—especially teachers—often carried letters of commendation to prove their credentials and ease their introduction to new places. The letters would also testify to the character of the bearer.
Jesus and his disciples crossed over the Sea of Galilee to get away from the crowds pressing in on every side. This crossing to the other side was not unusual.
Today we look again at Psalm 103, a beautiful psalm of praise describing the grace-filled nature of God. Look at the verbs that describe God’s activity: God forgives, heals, redeems, crowns, satisfies, works vindication and justice, and makes known the divine ways.
