The Fort Worth Chorale makes its joyous return this fall with a season of powerful and uplifting concerts. This evening’s performance will include Benbrook Middle High School “24” Treble Ensemble, Emily Sáenz, director.

Sarah Quartel’s exultant song sets the tone for our season opener:
Sing for the promise of each new morning; Sing for the hope in a new day dawning;
All around is beauty bright! Wake in the morning and sing, my child!

Ola Gjeilo’s powerful and affecting Dark Night of the Soul with text by St. John of the Cross forms the centerpiece of the program. Works by Monteverdi, Finzi, Kim André Arnesen, a setting of “Light of a Clear Blue Morning,” and folk/gospel arrangements by Shawn Kirchner round out our heartening opening concert.

FUMCFW’s Peggy Graff will be collaborating organist for “God Has Gone Up” by Gerald Finzi on this first concert of the season.
