“East Jesus” by Chris Manno

This unforgettable, moving story about innocence, hope, and conviction unfolds in a dusty Texas panhandle town in 1969. In small town America, rawboned oilfield men and ranchers; strong, stoic women; and struggling young adults live out truths of the heart including the unbearable price of violence — both domestic and in a far-off, unpopular, and poorly understood war. Characters you’ll care about, believe in, and exist through make this a poignant story you’ll live rather than just read.
