DiscipleChurch Family and Friends,
I hope that you will join us this Sunday for a very special Easter worship service! We will begin at 7:20 am with a community breakfast in Wesley Hall, everyone is welcome. Bring something to share if you can; but if not, come anyway and be a part of this amazing time for food, fellowship and singing — thanks to the 11:11 Breakfast Band led by Laurie and the gang! Then at 8:30 the music, message, and communion will continue in the Chapel. We will have special music played by Marilyn on the piano, Rachel on the cello and Karen will be leading our voices to Christ Has Risen! The music, prayers and mediation will be a celebration of resurrection and of all the new possibilities before us as Easter people. I will be preaching and the sermon will continue our focus on the Prayer of Saint Francis — Lord, make me an instrument of your peace — looking at the culminating line of the prayer “And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.” Whether you are currently feeling like this day — this Easter day — is a NEW day blooming with possibilities or just another dreary day in a long line of struggles, please come be in community with us — come to love others and to be loved!
Join us tonight at 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary for a moving Maundy Thursday service which will lead us through Jesus’ last supper with his disciples; his journey into the garden of Gethsemane; his betrayal, denial, and abandonment by his followers; and his arrest. And then on Friday, Good Friday, the day of Jesus’ crucifixion, the most solemn day of the Christian year, at 12:15 in the Chapel and at 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary, we will experience together a meditative service of word and music. In order to truly understand and experience the Hallelujah of Easter it is helpful to contemplatively walk through Maundy Thursday and Good Friday and these worship services are amazing guides for that journey.
Hope to see you tonight, Friday and Easter Sunday!!
Your sister in Christ,
