Good morning!
I hope this day finds you and your family well. I invite you to take a few moments with me to read and reflect upon today’s scripture selection — and to carry these thoughts with you into your day.
Today’s Scripture: Psalm 121
Assurance of God’s Protection
A Song of Ascents.
1 I lift up my eyes to the hills—
from where will my help come?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
4 He who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord is your keeper;
the Lord is your shade at your right hand.
6 The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
8 The Lord will keep
your going out and your coming in
from this time on and forevermore.
Tim’s Devotional Reflection for Today
Psalm 121 has brought comfort to countless families at the funeral of a loved one. It has brought comfort to countless hospital patients and their families. It has served as a beautiful, poetic reminder of the presence of God and the strength and hope God provides us in our times of need.
Are there times when you feel as though God must have fallen asleep because you feel abandoned? Here the psalmist assures us:
God “neither slumbers nor sleeps.”
Feeling alone?
Whether you are “going out” or “coming in,” God is with you.
Looking around wondering where your help will come from?
Help “comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”
One of the most powerful affirmations we can make is to affirm that no matter what happens, God is with us; we are not alone.
Thank you for sharing this early moment of your day with me, with God, and with the words and reflections I hope you will carry with you throughout the coming day and night.
Grace and Peace,
Dr. Tim Bruster
