Children’s Choirs now open to Pre-K!

Hi Families.

If your child is going into one of our Pre-K (4 yrs and up) classes on Sunday mornings, they will now get to be part of our Children’s Choir Program!

We meet from 9:15 – 10:00 am, Sunday mornings in the Children’s Wing. Afterward, we will escort the kids down to their Pre-K rooms.

We are so excited to take this next step!

If you would like your child to be a part of our Children’s Choir Program, please let us know.

See below for an overview of Children’s Choir for the coming school year and all the things your child will get to do as part of the Children’s Choir Program here at FUMCFW.

Mark Burrows
Director of Children’s Ministries

We are going to do something TOTALLY different as our big unifying project in Children’s Choir and Junior Worship Leaders. For the past several years, we have done a spring musical. Some kids LOVE musicals while others want to sing for God but aren’t crazy about getting up in front of people, especially for such an extended period as a full musical. So…

This year our main project will be to RECORD a CD. It will contain:

  • Classic songs such as Zacchaeus and Jesus Loves Me.
  • Old Children First favorites.
  • Hymns.
  • Prayers.
  • Even cherished scriptures such as John 3:16 and Psalm 23.

I am so excited about this project. It will still allow for plenty of opportunities for individual acts of praise through sung solos and solo recitations, all while allowing some of our shier friends and entry point.

But beyond that, this is no mere “Hey, we made a CD. Look what rock stars we are!” gesture.

The CDs will have real value and purpose. Each classroom for our littlest friends — cribs up to Pre-K — will get a copy to play throughout their morning. That way, even children who can’t walk or talk yet can still begin to internalize how much God loves them!

And I know every parent will want one (or three).

We will work on the project throughout the fall and start recording in January.

We will have multiple recording sessions so that (unlike the musical which is just performed once) if you have a date conflict, you can still be part of the project.

And naturally, we’ll have a big CD Release Party in May — a celebration of our year and all these amazing kids will have accomplished.

So, when it comes time to register for Fall Academy, we REALLY hope you’ll make choir part of your Sunday morning choice!

By the way — starting this fall, we will have THREE Children’s Choirs:
Junior Worship Leaders — 3rd – 5th Grade
Children’s Choir (Older) — 1st – 2nd Grade
Children’s Choir (Younger) — Pre-K – Kinder
That’s right! Pre-K will now get to be part of a choir!!!
