Debussy’s stunning “Clair de Lune” begins this Sunday evening’s compline service, followed by the congregation speaking the words, “The Lord almighty grant us a quiet night and a perfect end. Amen.” And if that isn’t the perfect beginning to a service, you should hear what’s next.
We have had two excellent Sundays — welcoming visitors from sixth grade to very seasoned — and we hope to add to our choir this week. This low risk, high reward choir is fun, it’s easy, and it makes worship better.
After one week, a somewhat meager total of 88 offering plate and online votes shows Amazing Grace is in a commanding lead!
MorningSong — our summer choir for the month of August — is low risk, high reward . . . and it’s right around the corner!
Choir tour is such a defining time for our 7th through 12th graders. It is 1/3 mission work (singing in retirement homes, working in food pantries, singing in worship services), 1/3 education (where else do you get a private tour of the celebrated Santa Fe Opera House one summer and a chance to see this country’s first ever Methodist church the next?), and 1/3 a reward for a year’s worth of hard work.
I want to invite you to join us for an intimate evening of fantastic music with internationally acclaimed a cappella group, VOCES8, together with FUMCFW’s Choral Union!
With great excitement, I am writing to tell you that Claire Binek has been hired as the new director of children’s choirs! She comes with lots of energy, a warm and friendly personality, and musical credentials that glow in the dark. She is itching to get started, and I can’t wait to see what fun things are in store for our kids.
