Sunday, June 7  is National Cancer Survivor’s Day!  https://www.ncsd.org/about-us

If you or someone you love is a cancer survivor, we invite you to join us to share personal stories and explore some of the challenges and gifts of having to deal with cancer.

Here is a link to my most recent blog about the new “Practicing Prayerful Presence” open group.

Or, just join us in “Zoom Room 2” from 9:30-10:30 am each M W F.

Some of you know that I was a patient at St. Jude Children’s Hospital through much of the 1970s (and that I am coming up to my 50th year as a cancer survivor this November!). My call to ministry emerged from that “education,” beginning in that time at St. Jude when I learned a lot about the power of compassion and connection, especially in difficult times, through experience.

Over the years since the 1970s, I have discovered many spiritual practices and words that point to what I began discovering in my most vulnerable of times as a patient at St Jude. I realized through my own experiences (often in silence, solitude, and nature) the transforming power of God’s Presence in a “still, small voice.” (1 Kings 19:12).

So come join us next week for a time to listen deeply and share together some of the ways that God has been working for good through our experiences with cancer. Or join us any other Monday, Wednesday or Friday when we will be offering shared times of sacred trust and deep listening as we experience “Practicing Prayerful Presence.”
