Are You Also Shaking Your Head?

I just shake my head when I look at the calendar and realize that three quarters of 2019 are gone! No matter how many pumpkins and mums I see, the late arrival of cooler temperatures certainly is not helping me to get into a fall state-of-mind!

Coming to church on Sundays does.

As a former teacher, September always signaled a new beginning – new school year, new students, new opportunities for growth. September at First Church is the same way – so many new beginnings: the start of exciting Fall Academy classes for our youngest disciples; new pertinent learning and social opportunities for our youth; the beginning of a new Confirmation Class with 47 sixth graders continuing their faith journey and beginning a lifetime commitment to the church; outstanding new sermon series; UMW beginning a new season; a variety of new Bible studies, Grace Groups, and Hospitality opportunities; exciting plans for upcoming events — Halloween Carnival, Thanksgiving baskets and Advent — and, of course what everyone is talking about — our Pickleball ministry!

I lift each of you up in a prayer of thanksgiving. YOU make these ministries — including Pickleball — possible! Because of your generous spirit for giving, First Church has a ministry for everyone!

As we enter the fourth quarter of 2019, I am asking that you continue to be consistent and intentional in your giving to the Ministry Funding Plan so that we end the year with all ministries fully funded. If you are like me, you are still in the process of fulfilling your 2019 commitment. For that I say, thank you. If you have fulfilled your 2019 commitment, a big thank you! Perhaps you have experienced a God moment or discovered your God-given purpose and wish to honor God with an additional sacrificial gift over and above your current giving, thank you. If you have not yet made a gift to the Ministry Funding Plan for 2019, I ask you to prayerfully consider making a gift for all of our ministries before year-end. Again, thank you for your consideration.

This week many of you received your third quarter 2019 Contribution Statement through an email from the Business Office (FUMC Information). Others of you per your request will be receiving it in the mail. Should you have any questions or comments regarding your statement, please contact our Business Office (

It is with sincere gratitude that I thank you for your generosity!

Together in Discipleship,

Nancy Fisher
Director of Stewardship

I thank my God every time I remember you. ~Philippians 1:3
