Since the AIDS epidemic began, 78 million people have become infected with HIV and more than 35 million people have died from AIDS-related illnesses. World AIDS Day is an annual global health campaign focused on raising awareness, honoring those living with HIV/AIDS, and remembering victims of this disease.

This year FUMCFW will join local congregations, organizations, and institutions in an ecumenical and interfaith World AIDS Day Service hosted by St. Stephen Presbyterian Church. Keynote speakers for the evening include Dr. Cheryl K. McDonald, a local physician, and Dawn Shepard, coordinator of First Presbyterian Church’s Community Crossroads Center. The theme is Hands up for #HIVPrevention. Use social media to write messages of solidarity, hope, and justice on your hands, take a picture, and post using the hashtag.

Please join us for this service and time to put our hands up as a community.
