FUMC Senior Pastor Tim Bruster Goes OVER THE EDGE for Outreach

June 24, 2011

A Message from Dr. Bruster regarding his OVER THE EDGE experience which raised $51,123 in support of FUMC Outreach Ministries :

Thank you doesn’t even come close to expressing my appreciation to each of you who supported the OVER THE EDGE campaign and I am delighted to announce that we have exceeded our goal of $50,000.

Because of you all of the following are now fully funded:

  • Mattresses for 250 orphans in Kenya
  • A Habitat for Humanity Home for a deserving family
  • Summer Camperships for at-risk children in our community
  • Daycare for homeless children at the YWCA
  • Backpacks and school supplies for at-risk children in our community

In addition, any funds in excess of $50,000 will be given to the First Street Methodist Mission to meet the increased demand for food during the summer months. During the summer months, the need for groceries soars. Many of the families that the Mission serves live at or below the poverty level so they are eligible for federal programs like the free and reduced breakfast and lunch programs offered at their local schools. During the summer months, these many of these families really struggle to provide for their children. Because of your generosity, we will be able to meet this increased demand.

What an honor to serve a congregation who so generously gives their heart, their hands and their gifts to support the disadvantaged both locally and globally. My rappelling adventure was worth every second – even the most stressful seconds – to know that so many individuals will be impacted by your generous support. May God bless each of you as you go out to be God’s people in the world!

Grace and Peace,
Tim Bruster
