We have two more Sundays left in our April Attendance Challenge.
The winning class gets a pancake party in May.
Below is what we’re exploring this month in Academy.
See you Sunday!

Memory Verse: John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him may not perish
but may have eternal life.
Bible Story: Peter’s Denial [John 18:15-27] and Peter’s Redemption [John 21:15-17]
These two stories create one of the most profoundly beautiful moments in all of scripture. On the night Jesus was betrayed, Peter denied even knowing Jesus three times.
Then after Jesus’ resurrection, Peter encounters Jesus on the beach and has breakfast with him. Jesus asks Peter “Do you love me?” three times, giving Peter a chance to re-affirm how much Jesus means to him.
Now, how does all that apply to the afterlife? We don’t know for sure what the afterlife in heaven looks like. [In Revelation, John has a vision, but this is not a first-hand account.] I think a lot of kids, and grown-ups, are swayed by what we’ve seen in classic art – a bunch of chubby cherubs sitting on clouds while playing harps.
The truth is we actually do catch a glimpse of what heaven will be like. When Jesus comes back to life what does he do? He wipes away tears. He fills people with hope. He reassures his friends that love is stronger than death. And his great gesture on the beach tells his friend Peter – Whatever happened in the past is in the past. Everything is okay now. I love you and I know you love me. Let’s share a meal together.
Holy Conversations: Draw a picture of what you would like heaven to look like. Is there someone in heaven right now that you miss? What will it be like to see that person? (or pet?)What is something you can do today to make it feel on earth “as it is in heaven”?
